socks for me

I finally finished these socks. It was a struggle- I don't know why they took me forever. This pair took less than 1 skein of Lisa Souza sportweight merino superwash in garnet. I cast on 60 stitches, made a waffle rib pattern on size 2 needles, and slogged through. They were originally going to be for Harold, but getting through them was so hard, I decided that they would be for me so I could make them smaller.

My SXSW FO. I love the color of this yarn so much. I only wish it were softer.

So it turns out that 2 balls of Filatura di Crosa Wave (75% merino/25% silk, worsted, 126 yds per ball) on size 7 needles with a 32 stitch wide scarf done in the Rib and Welt pattern will make a 4 foot long scarf, perfect for a small child.

And 316 yds of Lisa Souza handspun angora and lurex on size 5 needles is more than enough to make a very slouchy beret.  Plus a giant pompom which did not get attached because it looked a little off balance on a slouchy hat. And some more leftover for another pompom perhaps? I used concentric circle decreases for the top and like the way it looks. I also love the way the color of this yarn changes.

This niece asked me to make her a pink ballerina sweater with ballerinas on it. I said I could make a pink ballerina sweater, but without the ballerinas. She thought that would be okay.
