With Kyle working two jobs and my schedule being all nights, it's hard to work out a social event with these two. We figured out that sometimes, Friday nights are a good free night intersection with our schedules. We went to Redwood City to see Sarah Vowell and to dinner at a brew pub down the street. Everything I ate in that meal was deep fried. Yum, but also kind of eww.
My mother in law's birthday was last Thursday, so we took her out for a fondue feast at La Fondue in Saratoga. We had cheese fondue and then a ton of meat with a million sauces and then chocolate fondue. Yummy! Check out the pot of chocolate...
Monochrome day #2. It automatically puts you in a good mood.
We may not have had a staged re-enactment, but we managed to sing along without too many wrong words on our own. Emily made delicious brownie cookies and Robyn made fudgey gluten free brownies washed down with delicious Pine Ridge wine. We also watched half of the episode en francais- with French folk-style singing which made most cringe. Nicole, Kyle, Ted, Christopher, and Naomi all came to pay homage to Joss Whedon genius.

Salt Peanuts in Berocco Pleasure. hurrah! The seaming was hard due to the black thread and the fact that I've never seamed before, but I made all the parts fit together, so I consider it a triumph. I liked the Fitzgerald sweater, though the collar has a tendency to stand up. Plus the collar is a little wider than I thought it would be... Still, it looks good on Harold. Now I'm knitting Vintage Velvet in Knitpicks Decadence for a reliever knit and thinking about the design for my Cascade Eco wool aran hoodie.
Here is my dad's vest, which matches my mom's vest. They promise to take a photo of them together wearing their matching vests. It's cashmerino aran in navy and red with a stitch pattern from Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns I.
Here is my mom wearing a garter stitch scarf I whipped out with one skein of Knitpicks' Suri Dream. She's so cute I couldn't resist posting despite her protests. The yarn is very soft- I am loving the new Knitpicks yarns for fall.
I'm almost done with the Fitzgerald sweater for Harold from Jane Ellison's Noro Knits book. I'm also just seams away from being done with Salt Peanuts. Pictures to come... I hope to bust these two out this weekend.
Hurrah! His birthday was on the 18th, but there was weeklong celebrating with dinner at Ozumo and Farallon. Ask him the time.
